In July we confirmed that we’re in discussions to merge with Sentinel Housing Association. The two housing associations would create a new organisation with 30,000 homes predominantly in Hampshire, the ability to build more new affordable homes and continue to provide great services to customers.
We’re pleased to say that our plans are progressing very well and we continue to aim for April 2017 as our target date to bring the two organisations together. We have looked in detail at both businesses and this has given a clear indication that the merger is likely to go ahead. There will be no change to customers’ homes, rent, repairs service or tenancy rights/agreements as a result of this merger. See our frequently asked questions here for more details about this.
We wanted to let you know that when we merge the new organisation will be known as VIVID and our logo is shown below. In time we will need to rebrand our signs, vehicles and so on. For now, we wanted to make you aware of what our name will become - although we remain First Wessex until we merge. We think it’s important to have an identity that the two businesses and employees can identify with and get behind.
In addition, our customer consultation about the proposed merger is well underway. All our customers have received information and have been given the opportunity to provide feedback by Friday 2 December. All feedback will be collated and considered by the Board before a final decision to merge is taken. Thank you to all our customers who have fed back so far.
We’re really excited about the benefits VIVID will bring to our region for the future. We aim to build at least 1,200 new homes a year - many more than we would have been able to without combining our resources - and we'll continue to deliver great services. We look forward to working with you!
